Traveling is one of the most incredible things any person could experience, at least in this writer’s humble opinion! Whenever you visit a new place, your view of the world broadens. You get to meet different people, hear different languages. You get to taste different food and see things that maybe are so different from what you’re used to in your day to day life. All of these experiences can shape your personality, and at the very least, they can provide many fantastic adventures and memories. If you are an avid traveler, you should definitely consider capturing your passion and transforming it into a fantastic blog!

Keep reading to learn more about how you can create a truly extraordinary travel blog, and come up with fantastic new content!
1) Focus on traveling from a different angles.
If you really want to create a travel blog that stands out, stay away from the usual content. Articles such as “Top 10 Things To Do In London” have been done over and over, and over, and over…and over!
Instead of recycling the same ideas, come up with something unique. Why not focus on some unusual or interesting topics? Give a fun and quirky spin to your blog, with some content that will really engage your readers.
Here are a few examples: “5 Abandoned buildings in London that are worth checking out” / “London: the Ramen capital of Europe.”
The two title ideas above might not be extremely revolutionary, but they definitely have a fresh and innovative angle that you wouldn’t really expect from your average travel blog. The best way to come up with fresh content is to combine the main “travel” time to other subcategories. For example, you can combine travel with food.
Then again, you can mix up the travel topic with urban adventures, sports, music, street art…you name it. The possibilities are truly endless and it is really up to your creativity! The beautiful thing about travel blogs is that they are really broad canvases, in which you can manifest the power of your ideas.
The key is to think on broader terms: a travel blog is not just about listing the touristy sights: its about lifestyle experiences. Tailor your blog about what you love. It’s about your travel experiences and your unique perspective. If you put some personality into your content, people will love it for it.
2) Don’t skimp on great visual media.
Fantastic pictures (and why not, video as well!) are absolutely essential to a great travel blog. If you do not have the opportunity to take quality pictures, you can always use some stock images. However, there is quite nothing like going the extra mile and create your unique, one-of-a-kind photo content. If you want to make sure that your articles stand out visually, add to their appeal with some amazing images.
Great travel images can also go viral, meaning that they can truly transform the full potential of your articles and help you spread the word about your content on a much broader scope!
If you are a keen traveler, you probably already have a decent camera, or at the very list, a decent phone with the ability to create good photos. Get creative and come up with amazing images. When you are on the road, it is quite easy to get absorbed into what you are doing.
One of the best things you can do is to set aside a few hours and only use them to take compelling photos. Roam the streets in search of the perfect shot, so when you’re back and ready to brainstorm your content, you have many fantastic options to choose from!
You can also build entire posts around a photo. If you manage to take a picture of something particularly cool and unique, for example, it can become the basis of a really fantastic story. Always remember that a winning blog post should be a powerful combination of great visuals and unique words, with the power to move, engage and inspire your audience.
3) Give the audience your unique insights
One of the reasons why people read travel blogs is that they don’t want the usual cookie cutter content. If I want to find information about a specific tourist attraction, a city or a country, I’’ll hit TripAdvisor or Wikipedia.
On the other hand, if I want to get a better idea of how real travelers have experienced a certain location or attraction, I’ll look into a travel blog article. What makes each travel blog unique is the personality of the author.
Do not be afraid of showing your audience who you really are. By being open about your style, your personality and your unique views, you can easily connect with a vibrant like-minded audience. Be yourself: your readers will truly appreciate the uniqueness of the content you can provide!
Bonus tip: Feature guest writers to expand your reach.
There is only one problem with being a travel blogger: you can’t really be more than one place at the same time, unless you have superpowers!
Thankfully, there are ways you can make up for it: you could easily hire (or collaborate with) other guest writers who are based in different places, or have traveled in other locations.
This could be a seriously amazing way to add more content to your blog, even if you physically can’t travel to a specific location at any given time.
This is a really great way to make your blog more diverse and exciting, particularly if you struggle to come up with quality content on a fairly regular basis!
There is no reason why you couldn’t open up your blog to other writers, and why not, maybe someday it can turn into something a bit more involved, with a true editorial staff covering different areas and topics!
